Mr. Lowell E. Underwood Owner-Funeral Director / Embalmer

Lowell "Chico" started with Kinney Funeral Home in 1982, and his commitment to caring for families faced with the loss of a loved one compelled him to attend the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He graduated in 1994, and now holds his licenses as both a Funeral Director and Embalmer. In 2003, he chose to become the owner of the firm. 

 "Chico," as he is known to friends and family,  is a 1983 Stamford High School graduate.  He married Rochie Reddell on April 7, 2001 in Stamford.  They have four children, and five grandchildren. He and his wife are active members of St. John’s United Methodist Church, and active in the Stamford Rotary Club. Chico is a member of the St. John's Praise Team. Along with his wife, Rochie, they cater for many community events and enjoy cooking and hunting. Chico and Rochie are directors for the Texas Cowboy Reunion, sponsoring the Guest Cabin during the rodeo in July. Chico enjoys being outdoors, and they spend any spare time at the Stamford Lake.

 

The entire staff are Stamford Bulldog supporters and encourage the youth of Stamford in all of their activities.

Mrs. Rochie L. Underwood Funeral Director

Rochie started with Kinney Funeral Home in 2001. She entered the Mortuary Science Program at Amarillo College, and graduated in May of 2008, earning a Funeral Director's License.

 

Rochie is a 1983 Haskell High School graduate and she married Chico Underwood on April 7, 2001.  She is an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, serving on the Food Committee of the church. She is also a member of the Stamford Rotary Club and a member of the Stamford Preservation League and Stamford Art Foundation. In 2010, Rochie was honored to be the Texas Cowboy Reunion Hostess.  She enjoys helping Chico in catering meals for community events, such as the local track meets and other school events. They are directors of the Texas Cowboy Reunion, sponsoring the Guest Cabin during the rodeo. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and going to the lake. Rochie, along with Chico support all of the activities of the Stamford Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs.  Her favorite high school  sport is watching the Lady Bulldogs Basketball team and her favorite college sport is watching the Oklahoma State Cowboys Football team.

Mr. Paul Wright Funeral Assistant

Paul Wright is Youth Pastor of Common Ground Youth Ministries in Stamford and has joined our staff in assisting with funeral services. Paul's wife, Lola, assist Paul in his leadership role of Common Ground. They are both active in the community, and are members of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he serves as a Praise Team member. Paul is also the team Chaplain for the Stamford Bulldogs Football team.

Mrs. Kay Spraberry Part time Office Assistant

Kay Spraberry helps with visitations and answering telephones in the office when needed. Kay's son, Casey, was a past employee of the funeral home as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Casey has pursued other career opportunities in Spain, and recently moved to Chicago, Illinois. Kay also is the proud parent to daughter, Amanda and husband Ted Nolen, of Lewisville. Kay is an active member of First Baptist Church in Stamford, where she sings in the choir. She is a retired school teacher from Stamford I.S.D. Kay enjoys visiting her kids, and quilting with the ladies on Tuesdays.
