Obituary for Bobbie Jo Olson

Bobbie Jo Olson, 89, passed from this life into her eternal heavenly home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Orient Street Church of Christ with Wes Horn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery in Ericksdahl, Texas. A visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the funeral home.
Bobbie Jo Olson, 89, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2019 in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Orient St. Church of Christ with Wes Horn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the funeral home.

Bobbie Jo Maxwell was born October 12, 1929 in Stamford, Texas, the daughter of Oscar Bank and Amanda Frances (Hines) Maxwell. She graduated from Stamford High School, Class of ‘48 and received her LVN certification from the Hendrick Nursing Program in Abilene. On July 22, 1953, Bobbie married Hjalmer Eugene Olson in Stamford, Texas. To this union were born a daughter, Genie and two sons, Max and Scott. Gene preceded her in death on October 14, 1998. In 1981, Bobbie was honored to be chosen as the Texas Cowboy Reunion Hostess. She was the founder of the Stamford Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary “Pink Ladies” and was instrumental in establishing the Pink Ladies Thrift Store downtown. Bobbie organized several small town hospital auxiliaries and served as President of the Texas Hospital Auxiliaries organization. Bobbie was an accomplished Life Master bridge player and was known as a great cook, often baking bread to share with others on different occasions. Bobbie was a true servant and loved her hometown church, Orient St. Church of Christ. She prepared and served others in the church as the coordinator of the Yellow Apron Committee for many years. Bobbie loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with her grandkids and children.

Preceding Bobbie in death were her parents; her husband; a son, Max Olson; five sisters and two brothers.

Loving family surviving Bobbie are her daughter, Genie Medford of Palo Pinto Lake; a son, Scott Olson and Kim of Abilene; grandchildren, Ryan Olson and Elizabeth of Haskell, Eric Medford and Leigh of Camay/Graham, Heather Manske and Tony of Stamford, Hollie Robledo and Junior of Clyde, Adam Olson and Vanessa of San Diego, CA., Ethan Olson of California, Riley Olson of Buffalo Gap, Grant Olson of Arlington; great grandchildren, Laken, Landry, Lillea Olson, Madelyn Medford, Isaac, Isiah, Isabella Olson, Noah, Grace and Jacob Robledo, Liliana Olson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials be made to Stamford Healthcare Auxiliary or the Orient St. Church of Christ.
