Obituary for Dolly Joyce Dodgen

Dolly Joyce Dodgen, loving wife, mother, grandmother, passed from this life on Friday evening, November 2, 2018 at the age of 74. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Kinney-Underwood Funeral Chapel with Don Longoria officiating. Interment will follow in Hawley Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. Family and friends will have a time of visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at the funeral home.

Dolly was born November 23, 1943 in Nugent, Texas, the daughter of the late George and Dolly (Willingham) Keesee. She was a 1962 graduate of Lueders High School. On June 26, 1964, Dolly married the love of her life and true soulmate, Leanord Dodgen in Abilene, Texas. Dolly previously worked in the field of medical transcription. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Dolly loved sports, especially watching the Hawley Bearcats play football. She enjoyed cooking for her family and sent daily texts filled with love and laughter, to her daughters and grandchildren. Every morning, Dolly started her day reading and studying her bible. She loved Jesus and sharing his love and because of her love for Jesus, Dolly was a strong encourager to everyone around her. She was the complete example of a lady, and her contagious smile will be missed daily by all of us.

Preceding Dolly in death were her parents; a daughter, Rebecca Davis; two brothers, George Keesee, Mack Keesee and one sister, Ann Tajchman.

Dolly is lovingly survived by her husband, Leanord Dodgen of Hawley; children, Lisa Dodgen of Brownwood, LeAnn Herd and husband Chris of Hawley, LaTina David and husband Steve of Plainview, Ethan Davis of Hawley; nineteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Bob Keesee and wife Mary of Hawley; sisters, Emma Lee Middleton of Hawley, Maudene Gilbreath of Abilene, Pat Fuqua and husband Wayne of Arlington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
