Obituary for Pastor Gregory Don Taylor, Sr.

Pastor Gregory Don Taylor, Sr., 52, of Stamford, Texas, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church in Stamford with Dr. Gerald Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in Howard Cemetery in Haskell County under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the funeral home.

Greg was born June 21, 1966 in Whitney, Texas, the son of Gary Don and Charlotte Dixie (Ethridge) Taylor. He graduated from Abbott High School and attended Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. He married Connie Stock on July 13, 1984 in Peoria, Texas. She preceded him in death February 18, 2016. He later married Stacy Merchant in Stamford, Texas. Greg had moved to Stamford in 2010 and was the Pastor of Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church. The first and foremost thing you need to know of Pastor Greg is that he loved Jesus. One of his favorite hobbies was working “tinkering” on cars and he was partial to his pickup “Bertha”. He was loved by all children and was nicknamed by the children as “Cheeto”. Pastor Greg truly loved spending time with his family, playing with his grandkids, and being with his church family at Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church.
Preceding Pastor Greg in death were his wife, Connie Taylor; and three great grandchildren, Gunner Edwards, and twins Myles and Hayzel Hughes.
Loving family surviving Greg are his wife, Stacy Taylor of Stamford; children, Greg Don Taylor, Jr. and Wendy of Haskell, Brandy and Ricky Cook of Aquilla, Rusty and Cynthia Rogers of Haskell, Kelsey and Shawn Decker of Haskell; his mother, Charlotte Taylor of Coolidge; his father, Gary Taylor of Blum; two brothers, Jeff and Melissa Taylor of Kopperl, Michael and Norma Taylor of Blum; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his loving church family at Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given at Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 267, Stamford, Texas 79553 or the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society, 8111 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway #425, Dallas, Texas 75251.
